All food businesses need to provide allergen information and follow labelling rules in line with Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011- the provision of Food Information to Consumers (FIC). While your customers can be allergic to any food or drink there are only 14 allergens that legally need to be declared.
The newly enforced Nataha’s Law applies to any food business that sells Pre-Packaged for Direct Sale items (PPDS). These items now need labels that clearly identify allergens to the customer.
If you have a delivery service or use a third party delivery app like Deliveroo or Just Eats there are now distance selling laws in the UK that apply to your business. Included in The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, distance selling laws cover both the allergen information you need to provide customers before purchase and the labelling of your products.
If you would like support with other staff training or auditing services I can combine these with my food allergy guidance services to create a tailor made, comprehensive solution for your business.
